April 15, 2009:
Well it's that time of year again when those giant black spotted salamanders emerge from their subterranean lairs for a few nights to mingle about in our ponds. The ice is out early from the lakes, the ground is thawing and the weather is warming.
To my delight, many have asked "is it time?" I thought I was the only one who got excited over this but it looks as though there will be some form of gathering for the event. Another bonfire and a round of chocolate martinis will be in order.
I am sure this is just what these giant salamanders wanted, a drunken, gawking audience with power beams the size of a commercial jet landing lights!
Always a "WOW, thats cool!"

4/27: Well, they began to show them selfs as of the 25th. They have been spotted (well of course they are, ha ha) for over a week now. What a wild thing to see! Several folks have been very interested to see them and have made the effort to come by.
They all have exclaimed "Wow, That's Cool!"

Yep, I took this photo. From the front seat of an old two man crop duster. I was trying to get a good shot when the pilot said
"What are you doing!?...
it will be blurry, open the window!
Well, silly me, I never thought it could done. So I opened the window, wrapped the camera strap around my wrist, leaned into the wind, took an awesome picture and exclaimed "Wow, that's cool!"
